This is me with our Christmas tree on the U-bahn. Which is the local train system we use to get around. It is similar to trax, but way faster, and underground some of the time.
The VERY cool October-y thing outside Kelley Barracks that was made of hay. Very cool, and I might add, very American. We like!
We were invited to a birthday party at Kelley Barracks. It was so much fun! We just got there an hour early because I didn't know how long it would take, and had to wait outside. And I'd never thought that the security for a US Army base would be composed of Germans. Which is what it seemed like. But it was a cool experience!
The cookie hearts that come in all sizes and with many different sayings.
Graydon has really wanted to buy one of these cookie hearts since they started showing up. I will post another better picture of them.
The Kinder Egg of Brandon's dreams!
A FEUERBACH frog! Right close to where we live! I have never seen so many frogs in my life!
Me in front of one of the MANY little streets of shops. Every ride imaginable was there, as well as rows and rows of merchants. We almost slipped and bought something a couple of times, but held strong for most of it. I got a candied apple, Graydon got Roasted Vanilla Almonds, and he played the game where you throw stuff at cans. I couldn't bring myself to suffer through the humiliation of not hitting a single thing after paying two Euro. He did well, though!
The ride I wanted to ride. It's like the swings in Lagoon, except that it starts low and goes up HIGH. But it was too expensive, and I wasn't feeling that well that day. So we missed out. Maybe another time. :D
Graydon petting the BIG ponies that pulled the wagon. :)
Me Standing in front of the Kleidsdale drawn wagon that is full of BIER. It drove past our class EVERY DAY. And they had bells, so the teacher would always look out the window. We got to look out once. :D They were cool.
This is at Volksfest in Stuttgart. It was too expensive to make it clear to Munich for Oktoberfest, so we opted out for the second biggest festival in the country. And it was BIG!! The closest thing I can relate it to: Harvest Festival. With TONS of people and NO SCA. Sorry, mom! This is a tower with vegetables. I don't think it's an idol, though. :D
"SMASH CAPITALISM!" Graydon thought it was hilarious. There are a few outspoken communists around the world. :D
Monkeys and Mountain...Goats. What are those things called, again? There is a little, sweet baby by this one's feet.
Different penguins sleeping on their bums. We thought they looked hilarious!
This is them again, on our way out of the zoo this time. You can see the little fuzzy babies. They were sunbathing earlier, off to the side, while the adults did the work. :)
The sea lions. There were six adults, each had their own name. They'd come up, sing a little, she'd tell them a word, and they'd hop off! They did some REALLY cool things as a group, too. Hard to explain. Just know they were cool!
KANGAROOS!
Katrina went to the Wilhelma with her class! Graydon was going to be able to go, but he had a test. :( This is the penguin man! We got there in time to see EVERYONE feeding all the animals! It was so cool! A penguin would hop up on his lap, he'd give it a few fish and then push it off. Then another penguin would hop up, get a few fish, then hop down. There are also a bunch of other penguins that are gathered around, he'd throw them all fish, too. I LOVE PENGUINS!
A nice pastime in Tuebingen, like in Venice! Another pastime not pictured: Eating ice cream. Which I couldn't partake in because it was the sabbath!
You can't see it very well, but the building in this picture was decorated INTRICATELY. Tuebingen is one of the few cities in Germany that were untouched by the war. It's absolutely beautiful.
The is a picture of der Chor in the cathedral. I don't know exactly how we say it in English. It's where they bury all the royalty. But I don't think it's a tomb. What's that other word from Shakespeare?
Dieter took Graydon to the Tower of the Chapel in Tuebingen. Graydon took a picture of Gabi & I! We are the two little dots that are crossing their legs. :D There are other dots, all dressed in black, that are members of the orchestra there. I missed my Euphonium!
Then they took us to Tuebingen! Tuebingen is where Gabi went to college. The man in the left part of the picture was playing a hymn when we came down, and it felt so good! Gabi gave him some money, and I was grateful!
The Valley from our Viewpoint!
The Castle from our Viewpoint. I can't remember what it is called.
Gabi & Dieter. We love them! And miss them...
These are two trees! They are holding hands. :D
I should probably say that this was on a hike with Gabi & Dieter to a view of a Schloss. We passed by sheepies! I have a good picture of a black sheep, but can't find the cord to my camera, so we will have to wait til I do!
I'm ecstatic! Actually, I wasn't feeling well that day, but it turned out great, and fun, and just what I needed!
WHITE PIGEON!
Katrina across the way.
Graydon across the way.
The table at breakfast!
Birthday Breakfast! This is Gabi, Dieter, and Graydon!
This is where I go to class! I'm on the fourth floor! I walk up those stairs every day!
This is a FROG! Graydon was chasing this around to photograph it in a little village where we at the Italian Ice Cream. This is for Brandon!
This is an awesome fountain in Stuttgart, in the Fussgaengerzone!
This is a picture of Graydon's class. He would have to name them all, I can't!
I don't know what kind of flower this is, but I think it's absolutely amazing. This is for Grandma! :D
Strasskuenstler
This is on one of the main Fuessgaengerzone(only-walking zones) in Stuttgart. He does artwork, but many other people sing, play instruments, or even pretend to be robots for money. This is a way of life for some people here, and it's highly debated whether it should be outlawed.
Universitaet Platz in Heidelberg--where Graydon is going to school!
A Brown Pigeon in Heidelberg!
A Postal Truck...er...thing...:)
A Mercedes Bus! This picture was taken primarily for Malachi...:)
Graydon and Katrina, standing in front of Johannes Kepler!
There are Narren, or fools, that are a fountain the Weil der Stadt center.
